Grant by Odelina de Trachy [r. 1257-73], abbess of St Mary of Soissons, to the Knights Templar of Mont-de-Soissons and their preceptor Pierre Bouana, of Ermengarde, daughter of Helindis Lahasar, and her daughter Helota; given June 1264.
Endorsed: in a late 13th-century hand, ‘m. de ff. / De Leschangre de II famer’; in an 18th-century hand, ‘litt[e]ras de l’abbess du monasteu / de N. D. de Soissons, portant / concession par ette faille aux freres / de la ch. du Temple de la nommer / Ermengarde sci feumie de corps’; in a 19th-century hand, ‘Purch[ased] at Moore’s sale / 29 Apr[il] 1856 / Lot 347.’
Affixed with an imperfect seal of Odelina, lozenge, green, with a full-length image of the abbess in her habit, a pastoral staff in her right hand, a book in her left, a fleur-de-lys on the left, with the fragmentary legend, 's[igillum] odelin… ...eate sue...'. Reverse: a fleur-de-lys, with a cinquefoil on the left and a crescent on the right, and the fragmentary legend, '...a g[ra]cia' (see Birch, Catalogue of Seals (1887-1900), V, p. 359).
