Will of Elizabeth, widow of Thomas Paytfyn of Heddingley, with probate certificate. She leaves her body to be buried in Esschewolde, and makes bequests to the church of Cabilay, several religious houses, to her brothers’ children, to her siblings, and to others; dated the vigil of St Bartholomew the Apostle [23 August] 1342.
Probate certificate by the deacon of Otley; given at Otley [West Yorkshire], 25 November 1342.
Affixed with an imperfect seal of the deanery of Otley, lozenge, green, with a seeded fleur-de-lys between two small spots, with the fragmentary legend, ‘s decani…’ (see Birch, Catalogue of Seals (1887-1900), I, p. 387).
