Bishop Lyfing grants a lease, for three lives, of two hides (cassati) at Tapenhall in North Claines, Worcestershire, and two hagas in Worcester, to Earcytel, with reversion to the bishopric of Worcester; dated 1038, with English bounds (Sawyer, no. 1393).
Middle portion of a tripartite chirograph, with ‘CYROGRAPHVM’ written along the lower (and presumably upper) edge.
Endorsed in a contemporary hand, ‘Earkyteles boc to tapan halan:~’; and in another contemporary hand, ‘Harold senior.’
