Chirograph inspection and confirmation by Richard of Chissebeth and Henry of Creton of a grant by William of Frenlles to William Aumbesas and Johanna, his wife, of the manor of Carshalton [Surrey].
Affixed with two seals. The first, an imperfect equestrian seal of William, oval, green, with him mounted and armed as a knight, a shield in his left hand, a sword raised in his right, with the legend, ‘s[igillum] will…’.
The second, a fragmentary seal of Johanna, lozenge, green, with a full-length figure of Johanna standing on a carved corbel in a long dress, her left hand on her chest, her right hand holding a heraldic shield (see Birch, Catalogue of Seals (1887-1900), II, pp. 241, 375).
