Will of Margery, widow of John Todenham, knight, leaving her body to be buried in the chancel of the Austin Friars, Thetford [Norfolk], next to the tomb of her daughter Elizabeth Homgrave, and leaving bequests to that and other churches, and appointing executors, with the signature of Thomas Martin; given at Norwich, 15 September 1411.
Dorse: probate certificate by the official of the bishop of Norwich, 15 June 1416, with signature.
Endorsed: in a 19th-century hand, ‘The will of Marg[eret] the wife / of Sir John Todenham / A.D. 1411’.
Affixed with a fragmentary seal of the official of the bishop of Norwich, lozenge, green, with Christ, half-length, his right hand raised in blessing, his left hand holding a cross. Below, under an arch, an official praying, with the fragmentary legend, ‘…tatis eccles…’ (see Birch, Catalogue of Seals (1887-1900), I, p. 319).
The charter is affixed with a paper sheet, inscribed with an English translation of the will by George Bursall, 14 June 1802.
