Will of Joanna Lane, widow of Nicholas Lane of Snape, Suffolk. She asks to be buried in the churchyard of Snape Church, and makes bequests to her daughters, her goddaughter, and her goddaughter’s family, and appoints executors.
Dated 20 November 1500.
Dorse: Probate certificate by Roger Church and Thomas, prior of Christ Church Cathedral, Canterbury, as the archbishopric lies vacant; dated 9 January 1500 [1501].
Affixed with two seals. The first, a very fragmentary seal of Roger Church, red, with a heraldic shield with the arms of the Deanery of Canterbury. The second, fragmentary, red, a cross with the monogram ‘IHS’ (see Birch, Catalogue of Seals (1887-1900), I, p. 189).
