APPROPRIATION by Robert [de Wyvil], Bishop of Salisbury (with the assent of the Chapter of Salisbury Cathedral and of Edmund [de la Beche], Archdeacon of Berks), of the parish church of Coleshill, co. Berks, to Walter de Sevenhampton, the warden, and the chaplains of the chantry in the church of Edyndone [Edington, co. Wilts]; 22 Mar. 1357. The ornamental initial letter 'R.' of the charter is surmounted by a pen-and-ink drawing of Bp. Wyvil presenting Coleshill church to the kneeling Walter de Sevenhampton and two of his chaplains. With seals of (a) Robert [de Wyvil], Bishop of Salisbury (imperf.), (b) Salisbury Cathedral Chapter (imperf.), (c) William [de Edington], Bishop of Winchester, (d) Edmund [de la Beche] Archdeacon of Berks, (e) William de Sevenhampton as warden of Edington chantry. This deed has been transcribed into Lans. MS. 442, at ff. 163b, 164. Cf. also Victoria County History, Berkshire, iv, p. 523.
