History of the Northwood family and its landholdings from Stephen de Northwood, temp. Henry III, to Roger de Northwood, temp. Richard II; [1385-1405?]. Latin. Printed, in translation, by L. B. Larking, 'Genealogical Notices of the Northwoods', Archaeologia Cantiana, II (1859), pp. 10-26, which suggests the compilation date (the last dated entry is for 8 Ric. II) and a possible author, Thomas Brumpton, steward or lawyer in the service of Northwood family, who, according to a memorandum printed by Larking, op. cit., p. 28, was in possession of the history in the early 15th century. Marginal annotations may relate to its use in the preparation of evidence for lawsuits over the manor of Thornham in the early 15th century, for which see Larking, op. cit., pp. 27-28. Traces of seal wax in the bottom lefthand margin suggest that the roll itself may have been produced in court, with an authenticating seal attached.
