Commission by Thomas [Bourgchier, r. 1454-86], archbishop of Canterbury, to Hugh Surter and William Russell, canons of Christ Church Cathedral Priory, Canterbury, to administer the will of Emota Newton, widow; given at the archbishop’s manor of Ewell [Surrey], 8 October 1481.
Endorsed: in a 20th-century hand, ‘Administration of Emota Newton’.
Affixed with a fragmentary seal of the archbishop, red, with a partial image of Thomas Becket kneeling in prayer and a knight behind him with sword drawn to strike, within gothic tracery.
