Title:

Seal of Manuel Dimyres sebastos

Scope & Content:

Lead seal.

Obverse: Christ, standing on a footstool (suppedion), in frontal view, with cruciform nimbus; he holds the Gospel with the left hand, offering a blessing with the right hand before his chest; sigla on either side; border of dots.

Reverse: metrical inscription of 6 lines, preceded by a cross and followed by decorative elements on separate lines; border of dots.

Obverse: Ἰησοῦς Χριστός.

Reverse: Σφραγὶς γενοῦ μοι καὶ κράτος, Θεοῦ Λόγε, οἰκτρῷ Μανουὴλ σεβαστῷ τῷ Διμύρῃ.

Translation:

Obverse: Jesus Christ.

Reverse: Word of God, be the seal and the strength of me, the pitiable august (sebastos) Manuel Dimyres.
