IMPRESSION in red wax, the shield being coated in plain black wax, of the heraldic seal of Thomas de Holand, Baron Holand 1354 and (1360) 2nd Earl of Kent; 1353. The black wax was partly removed in 1825 to confirm the presence of a plain red shield beneath. Cf. Harl. Charter 51 F. 30 where the shield is plain red. Acquired with Add. MS. 47841, ff. 66-69b, and Add. Ch. 75065.
