The letters of Lord Holland are mostly originals. ff. 1-42b. (2) Correspondence of James, 2nd Earl Waldegrave, with Thomas Pelham-Holles, Duke of Newcastle, and (ff. 58, 63, 64, 71, 72) his private secretary, Andrew Stone; 1752 - 1761. Supplementary to Add MSS 32686-33002. Followed (f. 77) by a letter to Lord Waldegrave from William Cavendish, 4th Duke of Devonshire, 7 Nov 1762. ff. 43-77. (3) Notes, etc., by James, 2nd Earl Waldegrave. Viz:- (a) Memoirs and notes concerning contemporary public affairs, together with drafts of letters to the Duke of Cumberland, 1757 (f. 87) and the Duke of York, 1762 (f. 106b); 1754 - 1762. Printed in part in Henry Fox ..., i, pp. 361-362, 364-365, ii., pp. 363-365. The memoirs complement, but show no textual resemblance to, Lord Waldegrave's Memoirs from 1754 to 1758, edited by Henry, 3rd Lord Holland (1821). Included (ff. 90-105b) is 'A Parallel', containing a survey of the administration, 1761 - 1762; for texts of this work and of the printed Memoirs, etc., formerly in the Holland House Papers, see Sotheby's sale-cat., 10 Feb 1964, lot 288. ff. 78-107b;- (b) Notes and drafts for speeches in the House of Lords: 1748 - circa 1763, undated. ff. 108-189;- (c) Notes on the history of Europe, including the British Isles, and constitutional history; circa 1742, undated. ff. 191-245b. (4) Papers of Lt.-Gen. John Waldegrave (3rd Earl Waldegrave 1763), while serving in the Seven Years War; 1759 - 1761. ff. 246-255b. Viz:- (a) An engraved, hand-coloured map and plan, entitled 'Les environs de Giesen et de Wetzlar, la situation des armées françoises et anglo-hanovriennes, depuis le 17 de Sept. 1759, et le plan de la fortresse de Giesen, dressé par G. K.
