Correspondence between Reinhardt and John Boynton Priestley (and occasionally their respective wives Joan Reinhardt and Jacquetta Hawkes). Includes some social and personal correspondence. Priestley was a director of Reinhardt and Evans, and later of The Bodley Head, and gave advice on its literary publications, including proposing to reject Nabokov’s Lolita. Also includes a press cutting of an article on Priestley by J. W. Lambert in The Sunday Times, 19 Aug 1984, and a legal opinion on a possibly obscene book entitled ‘Candy’, dated 22 Mar 1965, signed with an illegible signature and inscribed in pencil ‘Priestley 4’, although there is no reference to this in the correspondence.
