Followed (ff. 34-53b) by accompts., etc., 1746-1761, of Lord Holland as executor for Winnington, including (f. 36) a copy of the latter's letter, 3 Oct. 1740, relating to the appointment. ff. 1-53b. (2) Correspondence of 1st Lord Holland with John Hervey, Lord Hervey of Ickworth (including one letter only, f. 153, from Lord Holland); 1730-1739. Engl. and Latin. Supplementary to correspondence of Lord Hervey in Add MS 51345. Mostly printed by Lord Ilchester, Lord Hervey and his friends 1726-38, 1950. Lord Hervey enclosed in his letters verses of his own, together with verses attacking himself, as follows:- (a) 'To Dr. Sherwin in answer to a Latin Letter in Verse', by Lord Hervey: a copy, with autograph corrections, 20 Sep. 1733. Printed as An Epistle from a Nobleman to a Doctor of Divinity, 1733. Cf. Written in the margin (f. 115) is a copy in Lord Hervey's hand of some verses attributed by him to Alexander Pope, 'To Lord Hervey and Lady Mary Wortley' (printed by Lord Ilchester, op. cit., pp. 191-192, and reprinted in The Twickenham Edition of the poems of Alexander Pope vol. vi, Minor poems, 1964, ed. N. Ault and J. Butt, p. 357). ff. 115-116b;- (d) Tit for Tat, 1734. Printed (the first edition), with MS. additions. Reprinted, with some omissions, by Lord Ilchester, op. cit. pp. 300-301. ff. 119-121b. Pasted to some of the letters are slips of paper (ff. 77, 85, 131, 143, 152, 169, 175, 176, 178, 188, 190) containing comments in the hand of Horace Walpole, 4th Earl of Orford (cf. Ilchester op. cit., p. xiv). At the end are copies, in the hand of first Lord Holland, of the will of Lord Hervey, 23 June 1743 (f. 197), a letter from Lord Hervey to Mrs. Susannah Strangways-Horner, 23 June 1743 (f. 198), and her reply to Lady Hervey (f. 199). ff. 54-199b.
