Notebook containing an anonymous satirical letter apparently to Samuel Sandys (1st Baron Sandys 1743) on his appointment as Chancellor of the Exchequer, with corrections and marginal notes; 1742 (aft. 13 July). At the end, reversing the volume, are notes, verses, etc., in different hands, including (ff. 8b-11b) a copy of an undated letter from an officer to Jack -- describing the battle of Dettingen on 16/27 June 1743. Paper covers with the date '1742' in ink on the front. One leaf (f. 13) partly torn out.
