Rules and precedents relating to parliamentary procedure, entitled 'Observations, Rules and Orders collected out of divers Journalls of the House of Commons in the Reignes of King Edward 6, Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, King James, King Charles the first and King Charles the second', including at ff. 91b - 102b a copy (here imperfect at the end) of the Form of Apology and Satisfaction to James I, 20 June 1604 (printed in Cobbett's Parliamentary History of England and elsewhere); 17th cent. (aft. 1679). Printed with some variations under the same title in 1717. An earlier version, copies of which are in Harl. MS 6283, Lansdowne MS 480, Stowe MS 344 (imperfect) and Eg. MS 3365, lacks precedents from 1606 to 1679 which have been included in the present text under many of the headings and in an additional section at the end (ff. 103-115b). A later version, with precedents to circa 1685, is in Add MS 8828. An 'Index' of headings has been added in an 18th cent. hand on ff. 116, 116b. At f. 117 is inserted a note of a parliamentary resolution, 11 June 1713. On f. ivb is a note by 1st Lord Holland of the purchase of the volume for seventeen shillings at the Sclater Bacon sale, 19 Apr 1737 (see A Catalogue of the Library of Thomas Sclater Bacon, Esq. ... 1737, p.156, lot 762). Armorial bookplates of 1st and 3rd (f. iii) Lords Holland. Old press-marks (some cancelled) are on ff. i, iii.
