Decoration:
1 large initial in green, blue, gold outlined in red, and silver (tarnished to metallic black), at the beginning of the sermons based on Matthew (f. 3r). 2 large initials infilled with foliage in red, or red and other colours (ff. 77v, 107v), at the beginning of the sermons based on Luke and John respectively. 3 small initials green or blue, and gold outlined in red, or silver (tarnished to metallic black) (ff. 1v, 2r, 2v). 1 zoomorphic initial in red and brown (f. 93v). Small initals in plain orange-red. A drawing of a human male bearded head added in a margin (f. 31r).

Binding: BM/BL in-house. Green velvet, 1970; a fragment of the previous green velvet is preserved inside the front cover.

Provenance:
Unidentified monastic owner, 13th century: a title in red, 'Augustin(us) de v(er)bis domini', is followed by a four(?)-word erasure, possibly an ownership note (f. 1r); a marginal note next to one of the sermons begins 'no(n) legit(ur) in r(e)f(ec)torio …', 14th century(?) (f. 132v).
Charles Burney (b. 1757, d. 1817), D.D., classical scholar.
Purchased for the British Museum from Charles Parr Burney, son of Charles Burney, D.D., in 1818.
