Dimensions: 405 x 290 mm (text space 290 x 190 mm in two columns).
Foliation: ff. i + 344 + 343* (f. 1 is Burney's table of contents, ff. i, 1, 343*, and 344 are old paper flyleaves, f. 2 has the watermark '1749').
Collation: i-xxxiv10 (ff. 3-342).
Script: Gothic.
Binding: Pre-1600. Black velvet (repaired); each cover with a D'Urfé gilt metal centre-piece and corner-pieces, c.1550(?); edges gilt.

Provenance:
The Benedictine abbey of St.-Denis: with its press-marks 'A +', 13th century, and 'xv.iiijc.xliij', 15th century (f. 3r; cf. Nebbiai-Dalla Guarda 1985, pls. I-IV, VI); said by Nebbiai-Dalla Guarda to be by the same scribe as Paris, BNF, lat. 976, a Ceremoniale of St.-Denis, 13th century.
Unidentified owner, 15th century?: inscribed 'Thomas ..ayn(?)' (f. 241r, cf. ff. 226v, 227r, 306v).
Claude d'Urfé (b. 1501, d. 1558), at the Château de la Bastie, Fôrez, Rhone-Alpes: with his arms in the centre of the covers of the binding, and the corner-pieces with a monogram composed of his initial and that of his wife Jeanne de Balzac, with 'VNI'; (cf. André Vernet 1976, pp. 81-97, pp. 89 n. 35, 90).
Jacques-Auguste de Chevannes (b. 1624, d. 1690) (cf. Omont 1901, and offprint, 1902).

Anthelme-Michel-Laurent de Migieu, marquis de Savigny: inscribed 'Demiqieu 1754 / 80ff' (f. 344r; cf. Omont 1901 p. 34, no. 115); with his notes on the text and provenance, ending: '… MSS. de la fin du 13e. siecle / a appartenu a une personne de la maison d'Urfé dont les armes sont sur la couverture / a Mr de Chevannes vers 1680 / a Mr Dilan [i.e. d'Island] vers 1730' (f. 2r).
Unidentified owner: in the anonymous sale of manuscripts … Lately Collected by a Gentleman on the Continent, 20 May 1815, lot 52, bought by Burney.

Acquired by the British Museum as part of Burney’s library from his son Charles Parr Burney in 1818.
