Decoration:
1 full-page miniature (unfinished drawing) (f. 26***v). Full-page canon tables, some painted, some inhabited (ff. 19v-26r). 1 large foliate initial, in red ink. Small initials in plain red. Marginal sketches (ff. 51r, 58v). Each Gospel is preceded by at least one blank leaf (foliated with asterisks), presumably intended for decoration; blank spaces are also left for the opening initials of each Gospel except on f. 27r.

Charles Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord (b.1754, d.1838), Prince of Benevento, Bishop of Autun, and French minister and ambassador: his anonymous sale (Bibliotheca Splendidissima … consigned from the Continent …), 8 May 1816, lot 3455, bought by Burney for £9 19s. 6d.
Charles Burney (b. 1757, d. 1817), D.D., classical scholar.
Acquired by the British Museum as part of Burney’s library from his son Charles Parr Burney in 1818.
