- Custodial History:
-
Origin: Italy, Central (Florence).
Provenance:
Perhaps at least partly copied from Coluccio Salutati's copy of the Synonyma and De differentiis: ‘… Et hoc habui a ser Coluccio monacha.’ (f. 79r, top right; see Ullman 1963, pp. 224-25). Possibly by Roberto de’ Rossi himself, according to unpublished notes of A. C. de la Mare at the Bodleian Library: inscribed immediately after the Philippics, in a more careful semi-humanistic script (described by de la Mare as very like that of the late hand of Salutati): ‘Iste liber e(st) Roberti francisci Derossis. Deflor(entia)’ (f. 69v).
Charles Burney, (b. 1757, d. 1817), D.D., classical scholar.
Acquired by the British Museum as part of Burney's library from his son Charles Parr Burney in 1818.
