Material: Parchment.
Dimensions: 225 x 140 mm (text space 135 x 75 mm), in 24 lines. Ruled in brown ink.
Foliation: ff. ii + 96 (ff. i-ii, 94-96 are flyleaves).
Collation: Uncertain; quire signatures suggest that the first three gatherings are of ten leaves each (ff. 2-31).
Script: Written 'above top line' in humanistic script; perhaps by the same scribe as the former Major J. R. Abbey MS JA 3164 (see Alexander and de la Mare 1969, p. 63).
Binding: Post-1600. Burney binding of diced polished calf, blind-tooled, the edges of the leaves gilt and gauffered with a rope-work design.

Provenance:
A member of the Tedaldi family of Florence: the family's arms, or, three bars-gemels gules, a lion rampant azure langued and armed gules (f. 2r).
Sir Charles Hedges (bap. c.1650, d. 1714), lawyer and politician: inscribed 'This beautiful MS was brought from Italy and presented to Sr Charles Hedges, Secretary of State in the Reign of Queen Anne' (f. 1r).
John Haddon Hindley (b. 1765, d.1827), orientalist: his sale, Leigh and Sotheby, 4 March 1793, lot 1196, bought by Finch for £5 7s. 6d.
William Ford (b. 1771, d. 1832) bookseller and print dealer, of Liverpool and Manchester: his catalogue, 1807, I, p. 235, no. 4866.
Charles Burney (b. 1757, d. 1817), D.D., classical scholar.
Acquired by the British Museum as part of Burney’s library from his son Charles Parr Burney in 1818.
