Material: Parchment.
Dimensions: 200 x 125 mm (text space 125 x 70 mm), in 20 lines. Ruled in blind.
Foliation: ff. ii + 105 (ff. i-ii, 104-105 are flyleaves). Pre-Burney ink pagination. ff. 1 and 97-101 are 16th-century supply leaves.
Collation: i8-1+1 (1st leaf lost and replaced; ff. 1-8), ii-xii8 (ff. 9-96), xiiifive (ff. 97-101). Quire signatures in the form of letters on the last recto of each quire, with a matching letter on the facing recto.
Script: Written 'above top line' in humanistic script, with large spaces for headings.
Binding: Post-1600. Burney(?) binding of brown calf.

Origin: Italy, Central (Florence).
Provenance:
Fairly heavily glossed by early hands in humanistic script.
Owned and partly written in italic script (ff. 1 and 97-101) by Ludovicus Gabriellius in the late 16th century: inscribed with his name (f. 1r) and colophon ‘Ludouicus Gabriellius i(n) proximo scripsit’ (f. 101r).
Inscribed by a second hand ‘Yhs M. 1583’ (f. 101v); and by a third ‘Hunc ipsum librum Idem Ludouicus nepos dulciss: | mihi Petro Martinotio auo amant. dono dedit, et gratis ag[… cropped] | 1594’.
Anonymous sale at Christie’s, 19 May 1803, lot 52, bought by Burney.
Charles Burney (b. 1757, d. 1817), D.D., classical scholar.
Acquired by the British Museum as part of Burney’s library from his son Charles Parr Burney in 1818.
