Paulus Orosius, Historiarum Adversum Paganos Libri VII (ff. 1r-68v), ending imperfectly in 7.9 (at domi fortisque); followed by an anonymous compilation of Old Testament history (ff. 69r-73v), starting imperfectly (at lxx. et genuit Thara et vixit priusquam genuit Thara annos cc et xxiiii).
Decoration:
1 three-line parted initial in blue and red (f. 1r); and three-line initials alternately red with blue penwork flourishing, or vice versa, at the start of each book; similar two-line initials.

Collation: i-iv10 (ff. 1-40), v-vi8 (ff. 41-56), vii12 (ff. 57-68), viii6-1? (last leaf missing, probably blank; ff. 69-73). Catchwords.
Script: Gothic, written 'above top line'.
Binding: Post-1600. Pinelli binding of diced calf; the spine of black calf, gilt with a bird tool.

? Written in or shortly before 1235: in the margin, near the statement in the text that there were 5199 years from the origin of the world to the birth of Christ, is inscribed 'su(n)t igi(tur) a (con)structio(n)e mundi usque nunc vi. cccc xxxiiij anni' (f. 10r).
Un-identified French humanistic owner, 15th century: with his marginal annotations (e.g. f. 11r).
Maffeo Pinelli (d. 1785) of Venice (inscription '7899', f. 1r, corresponding to his inventory number, see Morelli 1787, III, no. 7899): his London sale, 2 March 1789, lot 12805, bought by Marsh for £3 3s.
