Material: Paper.
Dimensions: 210 x 140 mm (text space 120 x 90 mm), in 19 lines. Ruled in leadpoint (ff. ix-xviii, 21-22, ruled with leadpoint verticals and 30 ink horizontal lines, apparently using a ten-nibbed instrument: see ff. x, xv, etc.; ff. 23-30 ruled in blind).
Foliation: ff. xviii + 32 (ff. i-viii, 31-32 are flyleaves). Early/original foliation in the lower right corner. Burney pagination 1-35. The leaves were formerly in the following order: ff. 1-20, ix-xviii, 21-30.
Collation: i-ii10 (ff. 1-20). Catchwords.
Script: Written 'below top line' in Gothic script; spaces for coloured initals.
Binding: Post-1600. Burney binding of diced polished calf.

Inscribed with scribal colophon (f. 18v), by the same scribe as Burney MS 268, with which it was formerly bound; the parts were together when in the anonymous sale at Christie’s, 19 May 1803, lot 56, bought by Burney.
Charles Burney (b. 1757, d. 1817), D.D., classical scholar.
Acquired by the British Museum as part of Burney’s library from his son Charles Parr Burney in 1818.
