Decoration:
1 large zoomorphic initial, in colours and gold, with foliate marginal extensions (f. 1r). 7 large foliate initials, in colours and shell gold, at the beginnings of the arguments (ff. 28r, 29v, 58r, 87r, 114r, 114v, 138r). Small initials alternately blue or red. Headings in red capitals.

Script: Semi-humanistic.
Binding: Post-1600. Brown leather (sheep-skin?) speckled red and green; gilt tooled including two thistle motifs; marbled endpapers. Inscribed on the fore- and tail-edges. 18th century?

Inscription 'Paulus Emilius', 15th century, among numerous inscriptions and notes in Latin and Greek (f. 168r).
Inscription 'Tomas tomas', 16th century, among inscriptions in Latin and Italian, including one referring to Pope Julius [III?] (f. 168v).
Inscription 'F. Romilly de Geneve', 18th century (f. 167v).
? Perhaps in the anonymous Catalogue of a Very Valuable Assemblage of MSS … Lately Collected by a Gentleman on the Continent, 20 May 1815, lot 49, bought by Burney for £5 5s.
Charles Burney (b. 1757, d. 1817), D.D., classical scholar.
Acquired by the British Museum as part of Burney’s library from his son Charles Parr Burney in 1818.
