Provenance:
Charter in German dated Melk, St. George’s day 1399 (f. 2v).
Formerly bound with Burney 137, 265, 352, which have similar scripts and the same annotator, with the same watermark as in Burney 137 and 265; one of the texts in Burney 137 was written by 'Bolfgangus' (?) in 1473 (f. 60).
Possible shelfmark ‘N: i. 9’ (f. 2v).
Unidentified owner: included in the anonymous sale ‘A gentleman of taste: Manuscripts etc. purchased on late tour of the Continent’ 1 May 1804, lot 69, (bound with Burney 137, 272, and 352, when the order of texts was Virgil, Cicero, Terence, Valla, bought by Burney.
Charles Burney (b. 1757, d. 1817), D.D., classical scholar.
Acquired by the British Museum as part of Burney's library from his son Charles Parr Burney in 1818.
