Erased inscription (f. 1r, upper border).
The Benedictine abbey of St Martin, Battle, Sussex (see Ker 1964, pp. 7-8); Battle Abbey-style shelf mark ‘co’ (upper right hand corners, ff. i, 1).
Perhaps a shelf mark ‘No 59’ in pencil (f. i recto), possibly in the same hand as ‘No 62’ in Burney MS 391 f. i* and ‘No 73’ in Burney MS 379 f. i**.
Unidentified owner: included in the anonymous sale 'A Catalogue of a very fine collection of modern miscellaneous Books. Greek and Roman Classics, and ancient Manuscripts’, 27 June 1811, lot 237, bought by Heber for 1s.
Charles Burney (b. 1757, d. 1817), D. D., classical scholar.
Acquired by the British Museum as part of Burney's library from his son Charles Parr Burney in 1818.
