Title page (f. 1r) and end page (f. 315v) of capitals in alternating colours; a full border of white vine scroll with the arms of the Donati family of Venice inside a wreath in the upper border and hanging from the outside border, and the arms possibly of the Capodilista family of Venice inside a wreath in the lower border (f. 9r); gold initials on coloured backgrounds.

Dimensions: 360 x 230 mm (text space 250 x 153 mm).
Foliation: ff. 316 (f. 316 is a parchment flyleaf).
Script: Humanistic. Scribe: possibly written by Gaspar of Verona, according to the unpublished notes of A. C. de la Mare at the Bodleian Library.
Binding: BM/BL in-house. Rebound in 1962; gilt leaves.

Origin: Italy, N. (Padua or Verona?).
Provenance:
? Written by Gaspar of Verona (b. c.1400, d. 1474), working in Padua; elaborate pen scrolling and capitals in alternating colours in the title and end pages in the style of Felice Feliciano of Verona (b. 1433, d. 1479), according to unpublished notes of A. C. de la Mare at the Bodleian Library. For other manuscripts identified by A. C. de la Mare as having been written by Gaspar of Verona see King's MSS 18, 19, 20, and 22, Additional MS 16983, the first three having the inscription ‘Vale Gaspar’; King's MS 18 is dated 1464.
The arms of the Donati family of Venice (f. 9r) and possibly those of the Capodilista family of Padua, of a lion rampant on an azure field and an eagle in the chief, crested with a crowned eagle’s head.
James Edwards (b. 1756, d. 1816), book collector and bookseller: included in his 1790 catalogue, no. 378.
Charles Burney (b. 1757, d. 1817), D.D., classical scholar.
Acquired by the British Museum as part of Burney's library from his son Charles Parr Burney in 1818.
