Decoration
Partial bar border with sprouting foliage, and large blue initial on gold background with painted flowers in the bowl of the letter (ff. 1, 73v). A large illuminated pink initial with foliate forms in the bowl and sprouting into the inner border (f. 136). Large and small red and blue puzzle initials. Small simple red or blue initials. Light yellow highlights to the capital letters at the beginning of sentences.

Provenance: The Celestines of Amiens (seventeenth century inscription, 'L(ib)er Celestinorum Ambianensium', f. 1). The same scribe wrote Burney 300, which contains the second part ofBernard of Clairvaux's sermons from Easter to Advent, and a seventeeth century inscription, 'L(ib)er Celestinorum Ambianensium', f. 1.
Charles Burney (b. 1757, d. 1817), D.D., classical scholar. Acquired by the British Museum as part of Burney’s library from his son Charles Parr Burney in 1818.
