This manuscript isone of the many copies of the 12th-century Latin epic by Walter ofChatillon (d. 1180) retelling the history of Alexander the Great. It was a verypopular school text for education. This copypreserves a school commentary explaining both the form and the content of the poem included after the main text in the manuscript.
Contents:
ff. 2v-93v: Walter of Chatillon, Alexandreis, Books 1-10 with extensivemarginal and some interlinear glosses.
ff. 94r-173v: Anonymous commentary on the Alexandreis. Imperfect, begins ‘Sicut philosophus in De motu animalium, idoneae passiones praeparant partes organicas...’, ends ‘…et quia malum est magno periculo se opponere, proprium.’

Small red initials, somedecorated. Numerous drawings in the lower margins.
