Contains two fragments, a Book of Hours, written in Latin and dated to the 15th century, and a miscellany of texts, written in Greek and dated to 1709. These were already bound as one volume when owned by John Brand (b. 1744, d. 1806).
ff. 1r-55v: Book of Hours, Use of Le Mans, fragmentary, in Latin. Contains many English illuminated initials with border decoration. 2nd quarter of the 15th century.
ff. 57r-118v: Miscellany of Greek texts, completed in 1709 (colophon, f. 96v):
ff. 57r-88v: Gerasimos, Patriarch of Alexandria, On Communion answering a letter by the Melkites Syrians (Συνταγμάτιον Γεράσιμου πατριάρχου Ἀλεξανδρείας ἐναντείον ἐκυνῶν ὁποῦ ψευδοφρόνως λέγουσην…). Inc. Τίμοιειε ἄρχοντες οἱ παρικοῦντες ἐν τοι ἐπαρχεία Τριπόλεως τῆς Σιρίας. Imperfect, expl. τῶ δὲ ἐν τῶ ποτιρίω τοῦτω. Same text in Harley MS 5556, ff. 1-24; Paris, BNF suppl. grec. 78, ff. 177-196 (cf. Astruc (2003), p. 182.).
ff. 89r-90v: Jewish account that Christ is the Son of God (De sacerdotio Christi). BHG3811. Imperfect, inc. (as in Harley 5556, f. 27v line 13) τὸν κερὸν (sic) τῆς ἀλλόσεως τοῦ ναοῦ καὶ τῶν Ἰερωσωλίμων. Concluding rubric (as in Harley 5556, f. 28v) τέλος τῆς ἱστορίας ταύτης.
ff. 91r-94r: Apocryphal letter of Pontius Pilate to the Emperor Tiberius about the Crucifixion. BHG3779xI. CANT 65.I.
ff. 94v-96v: Apocryphal reply of Tiberius to Pontius Pilate. BHG3 779xII. CANT 65.II.
ff. 96v: Beginning of a letter by Nikodemos the deacon to Arsenios, Metropolites of the Thebaid.
ff. 97r-99r: Riddles of Gerasimos, Patriarch of Alexandria. Seven sets of iambic verses. as published by Boissonade (1831), p. 432, 434, 441-443, 445, 447, 449 and Euangélidès (1932), pp. 296-298.
ff. 99r-118v: History of the mountain in Egypt removed by the prayers of Joachim, Patriarch of Alexandria. Inc. τὸν καιρὸν ἐκείνον ἠτον κάπιος πατριάρχης Ἀλεξανδρίας Γριγόριος. Same text in Harley MS 5556, ff. 34v-61. Slightly different wording from what is published in Uspensky (1898), pp. 16-28.
The MS is very similar in its content and structure to Harley MS 5556; Paris, BNF. Suppl. grec. 78 and Alexandria, Patriarchal Library, Ms 177.

Dimensions: 170 x 115 (115 x 65) mm (Book of Hours) and 170 x 115 (140 x 90) mm (Greek miscellany).
Foliation: ff. 118. One gathering missing after f. 88r.
Ruling: 20 lines (Book of Hours) and 18 lines (Greek miscellany).
Binding: 19th century British Museum binding. These were already bound as one volume when owned by John Brand (b. 1744, d. 1806).
Script: Scribe of Greek miscellany is Nicodemos the deacon (colophon, f. 96v).
Decoration: First part with Book of Hours contains English illuminated initials with border decoration. Second part with the Greek paper manuscript contains coloured headpieces and initials.
