Correspondence relating to contracts and sales of the volumes publishing Cooke’s broadcast ‘Letters from America’, i.e., Letters from America, originally published by Hart-Davis, 1951, Talk about America, published by The Bodley Head, 1968, The Americans’, published by The Bodley Head, 1979, and a projected fourth volume. Some royalty statements and correspondence also include references to other works by Cooke. The contracts originally held by The Bodley Head were passed, with the agreement of Reinhardt Books, to the Penguin Group, who already had paperback rights, in 1991. The final volume was published by Allen Lane, 2004, as Letter from America, 1946-2004. Correspondents include: Reinhardt, Cooke, Charles Pick and Isabel Moore, both of Octopus Books, Peter Carson and Margaret Bluman, both of Penguin Books, Irving Cohen, of Cohen & Grossberg, Cooke’s lawyers, and Georgina Capel, of The Bodley Head.
