Collection of rolls of 35 mm b/w negative film, in three parts:
1. Small metal biscuit tin holding 20 metal Kodak film containers, each housing a roll of 35 mm b/w negative film. The exterior of the box is marked: Santals Bihar Dances etc.
2. Kodak paper box containing 11 metal Kodak film cassettes, each housing a roll of 35 mm b/w negative film. The box is marked: Mainly Maithil.
3. Plastic bag (discarded) containing 10 yellow cardboard film boxes labelled Vertical Man?, each housing a roll of 35 mm negative film, 2 rolls of 35 mm negative film in brown envelopes marked Santal dancing I and II, and one roll of unidentified film. The label Vertical Man refers to Archer's book of that title (for prints from these negatives, see Mss Eur F236/458). A slip of paper with this part of the negative collection reads: Pre-1934 photos of tribal people and sculpture in Chota Nagpur during Settlement training.
With the exception of the loose items, the individual films are each marked with an alphabetical identifier, linking the negatives to prints found in other parts of the collection.
