A report on the British Indian Commercial Mission to south-eastern Persia during 1904-1905. The report was written by A H Gleadowe-Newcomen, President of the Mission and Representative of the Upper India Chamber of Commerce and the Indian Tea Cess Committee. The report was printed in Calcutta at the Office of the Superintendent of Government Printing, India, 1906.
The volume opens with a letter from the author to the Government of India and the Committees of the Upper India Chamber of Commerce, Cawnpore, and the Indian Tea Cess, Calcutta. It is then divided into five sections, as follows:
- I – Introduction: with information on the Mission's inception, constitution, objectives, route, and outward journey to Persia from Bombay
- II – General: with information on the geography, topography, ethnology, trade, banking, communications, engineering works, and customs of Persia, as well as Russian influence in the country
- III – Trading Centres: with information on Bandar Abbas, Saiadabad, Bahramabad, Kerman, Khabis, Gok, Bam, Jiruft and Rudbar, Yezd, Shiraz, and Bushire
- IV – Principal Articles of Commerce: with information on imports, exports, and the potential for development
- V – Appendices: with tables of weights and measurements, statistical tables relating to trade, trade routes in Persia, and an itinerary of the Mission's journey.
In a pocket in the inside back cover of the volume is an index map to caravan routes in South Eastern Persia (folio 86).
