Eleven letters from Pelly primarily to Henry Lacon Anderson, Chief Secretary to the Government in Bombay, but also to William Henry Havelock, Officiating Secretary, and Charles Gonne, Acting Secretary relating to his work as Political Resident in the Persian Gulf.
The letters relate primarily to proposals to relocate the Persian Gulf Residency to Cassab [Khussub], the slave trade, extensions to the telegraph and Pelly's travels throughout the Gulf.
Included within these letters are reports from Pelly's travels with maps, itineraries and statistics regarding the geography, trade and inhabitants of the areas he visited.
