- Title:
- Royal Society for India, Pakistan and Ceylon Collections: lantern slides of architectural subjects in Calcutta, Hyderabad and Mysore
- Scope & Content:
-
Collection of 69 lantern slides, originally housed in a cardboard drawer box, inscribed on side T. H. S. Biddulph, 7 Nicholas Lane, E.C., and with label pasted on side reading Calcutta Seringapatam Mysore Nandidroog. The collection has now been rehoused
The subject matter comprises photographs of variable quality of architecture at Calcutta, Hyderabad, Seringapatam and Mysore. The photographs of Calcutta, Seringapatam and Mysore are probably the work of Thomas Henry Stillingfleet Biddulph (1846-1919), Financial Department, Government of India, and appear to date from the 1890s or possibly earlier (slides 45-46 show the 1897 fire at Mysore Palace). The Hyderabad views are clearly later, and are captioned in a different hand in ballpoint.
