Encounters Unforeseen

Encounters Unforeseen began as a short story entitled 'Magho the Manikin'; it was enlarged into a novel and in Nov 1956 Ghose's guru, Allan M. Laing, suggested that he entitle it 'Magho the Manikin: A Tale of Unforeseen Encounters'. By the end of 1956 Ghose was referring to it as 'A Tale of Encounters Unforeseen' but 'a tale of' was soon dropped. After failing to get it published, Ghose began revising it in Jun 1963.
