Book of Hours, Use of Rome, including a calendar (ff. 1r-12v), and with later notes on the family of Jacques de Brégilles, French (ff. 194r-v), an added prayer to the Virgin Mary in French, 16th c (ff. 204r-209v), and a 16th c French verse (f. 210r).

Decoration:
The manuscript is illuminated by three different artists: 2 full-page miniatures attributed to Willem Vrelant (ff. 27r, 35r, initials and borders in the same style as the miniatures). The other 3 full-page miniatures by an anonymous artist referred to as artist A (ff. 42r, 105r, 127r). The historiated initials by another anonymous artist, perhaps of French origin, referred to as artist B.
5 full-page miniatures, accompanied by large decorated initials and full foliate borders with birds, figures and animals, in semi-grisaille, for major text divisions (ff. 27r, the Crucifixion, 35r, Pentecost, 42r, the Annunciation, 105r, King David, 127r, the Resurrection of Lazarus).

Provenance:
Jacques de Brégilles (d. 1475), garde-joyaux to Philip the Good and Charles the Bold (on whom see Antoine de Schryver, 'Jacques de Brégilles, responsable de la librairie des ducs de Bourgogne sous Charles le Téméraire', in Les Chroniques de Hainaut: Texte, Histoire et Illustrations, ed. by Pierre Cockshaw and Christiane Van den Bergen-Pantens (Turnhout: Brepols, 2000), pp. 83-89): with an inscription recording his marriage on 21 September 1442, 'Le iour saint mathieu xxie iour de septembre mil quatre cens quarente deux se maria Jacob de Bregilles et Claire sa femme', and the subsequent births of their children from 1450 to 1461 (f. 194r); the death of Jacques de Brégilles is noted as 25 January 1474 (o.s.) (f. 194v).
Added prayers in French in a 16th-century hand (ff. 204-210).
