The first volume of the book of hours, known as the 'Sforza Hours' including:
ff. 1r-12v: Excerpts from the Gospels.
ff. 13r-27v: Hours of the Holy Cross.
ff. 29r-40r: Hours of the Holy Spirit.
Decoration: 6 miniatures at the beginning of the Gospel excerpts and the Hours, executed in two campaigns: in c. 1490-1494 by Muzio Attendolo Master (ff. 1r, 4r, 7r) and Giovan Pietro Birago (f. 28r), and in c. 1517-1521 by Gerard Horenbout (ff. 10v, 12v). The subjects of the miniatures are:
f. 1r: St John the Evangelist writing his Gospel.
f. 4r: St Luke with the Virgin.
f. 7r: St. Matthew reading.
f. 10v: St. Mark writing his Gospel.
f. 12v: Christ being nailed to the Cross.
f. 28r: Pentecost.
