The yearbook contains: a concordance of the Indian months with the Gregorian year and astronomical and meteorological data, together with a timeline of important events in the history of French India; physical, geological, historical and topographical information on French India; a chronology of governors, prefects and heads of administrative services since 1674; a detailed organizational structure of the Ministry of Navy and Colonies including names of the functionaries; a detailed organizational structure of the Government of French India including names of the functionaries in all the departments and services; commercial information; direct and indirect taxes and conversion rates of currencies used in French India; postal and telegraph services (including the English Post); transport services (maritime/railways); lighthouse and lighterage charges; glossary of agricultural and other terms used in the vernacular languages; a compilation of some important constitutional laws and decrees; a list of the villages that are a part of various communes. The volume ends with some tables containing statistical data (commercial and agricultural) for 1882.
