The printed map covers a route through Kansu province (甘肅省) from Changwu, Shensi (長武, 陝西), north-west to Lanchow (蘭州), by way of Pingliang (平涼), and Anting (安定). The route continues north-west to Pingfan (平番) and Kulang (古浪). The area west of Kulang, covering Tatung (大通), Koko Nor (青海湖), and the Tsilien Mountains (祁連山) is roughly sketched in pencil.
Shows (in the vicinity of the route) relief (with hachures), hydrology, settlements, and the line of the route taken. Place names are given in non-standard romanisation.
