- Autograph and typescript letters and postcards written by members of Durrell’s family to Ray and Georgina Mills. There are two letters from Eve Durrell (second wife, b 1918 d 2004), one during her marriage to Durrell dated Jul 8 1949 and one regarding daughter Sappho dated 18 Oct 1983. The correspondence from Claude-Marie Forde (third wife, b c1926 d 1967) includes letters, postcards and Christmas cards predominantly signed from both Claude and ‘Larry’. Alongside the postcards from Sappho Durrell (daughter, b 1951, d 1985) there is a copy of the order of service from her funeral on 9 Feb 1985. With the exception of several postcards and Christmas cards, much of the correspondence from Françoise Kestsman (surviving partner) is regarding the ‘Centre d’Etudes et de Recherches Lawrence Durrell’ established at his home in Sommieres in 1991 by Kestsman.
