- The map covers the line of the route, proceeding from Kalgan, Chihli [直隸], across northern Shansi [山西] via Kweihwa [歸化] to Paotow [包頭], Inner Mongolia [内蒙古], then down the Hwang Ho [黃河] via Tungkwan, Shensi [陕西] to Menghsien, Honan [河南]. Shows hydrology, communications and settlements. Principal locations are given in romanised Chinese, smaller locations are numbered. The limits of the corresponding sheets of the surveyor's drawings (CHI/184) are marked in red ink on the sheets.The War Office ledger attributes authorship to 'Indian Native Surveyor [Hakim Khan] with Major [G.B.] McAndrew'.
