Map of Bū-Shehr Peninsula [Būshehr] produced by Lieutenant Arthur William Stiffe to illustrate the military campaign of 1856-1857. Shows position the British army landing on the 7th December 1856, the line of advance and the extent of the site of ‘the British Intrenched [sic] Camp 1856-7’.
The map contains numerous notations concerning topographical features, shows the location of buildings, wells, cultivated land with tracks and safe position for landing and anchorage indicated.
In the top right-hand corner below scale statement there is a key to symbols and a note on sources used in compilation of the map with the reference to the chart of harbour by Commissioner Constable and Lieutenant Stiffe.
Includes an inset: ‘Enlarged plan of Abū-Shahr’ showing location of the Redoubt, the British Residency building, the Telegraph Office, the Persian Flagstaff [Flagpole], Great Mosque and Armenian Church.
