- Scope & Content:
- Description: This envelope contains one photograph, magazines’ and newspapers’ clippings and articles, one illustration, and an envelope with a photographic negative on The Association of the Damas Patricias (or Aristocratic Ladies) informs us about its foundation by the teacher Rosa Rodríguez de Oliden in 1910. It also refers to other ladies who preceded her in their lineage and practice of charity. All of them descended from the so called national heroes. We can mention: Magadalena Güemes de Tejado (1787-1866) from Salta, Ángela Castelli de Igarzábal (1794-1876), and Mercedes Lasala de Riglos (1763-1837), both from Buenos Aires. They were following the figure of Remedios de Escalada, General José de San Martín’s wife—a historical and controversial figure that the Association tries still now to redeem. Extent of original: Envelope. Condition of original: Regular to bad condition.
