- Description: This is a handmade envelope with photos and a few newspapers' and magazines' articles and clippings that inform us of the existence and widespread practice in Buenos Aires of the public baths in the second half of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th. The public baths replaced bathing in the River Plate and were considered to have beneficial effects for the health especially during the summer. According to some sources the clients were refined and the profits high. The daily bath for the lower classes remained a serious hygienic problem that was not solved with these public baths.
