- Description: This envelope informs us of the port and locality of Barranqueras in the south-eastern coast of the province of Chaco on the small river of Barranqueras, a branch of the Paraná River. In the 16th century, the Spaniards met a warrior ethnic group, the empeñes, and the abipones whoo had lived in Baranqueras before empeñes. Timber workers from the neighbour province of Corrientes settled in the zone as well as the indigenous population of the lule-vilelas. In time, the latter were incorporated to the lumber activity and the town set off in a disorderly way until the railway arrived allowing the colonisation of the rural interior in 1905 to 1909. However, it never gained full economic success and Barranqueras only became a municipality in 2003. This is a handmade envelope with two stationary envelopes with photos and newspapers' articles.
