- Title:
- Peste Bubónica [1890s-1960s]
- Scope & Content:
- Description: This is a Nepaco folder with newspapers' and magazines' clippings and articles on the Bubonic plague in Argentina, particularly, in the city of Buenos Aires. Because Buenos Aires was a port, the plague arrived with the ships and then spread to towns, railway stations and into the interior of Argentina. Bubonic plague had long existed in Argentina but by the end of the 19th century, in the 1890s, an epidemic swept the world as well as Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro in South America. This illness continued to infect Argentina well into the 20th century. See, Echenberg, Myron, The Global Urban Impact of Bubonic Plague, 1894-1901, (New York: New York University Press, 2010). Extent of original: Nepaco folder. Condition of original: Regular to bad condition.
