- Description: This handmade envelope contains five stationary envelopes and loose material: newspapers’ and magazines’ articles and clippings, engravings, and photos on Juan Isidro Quesada. He was colonel of General José de San Martín’s army, arrived at the lagoon of “Las Mulitas” where he erected the fort of the same name in 1836. He ordered the building of ranches, the cultivation of the land, and the breeding and rearing of cattle. The indigenous populations attacked the fort repeatedly as it was a frontier region but they were, in time, severely repressed and ultimately destroyed by the national army. Then, Quesada founded the town 25 de Mayo. As many other towns and administrative districts of the province of Buenos Aires, 25 de Mayo developed into an important agricultural region even to-day.
