A short biographical notice at the top of folio 1v
Anthology of dīvāns dating from between Feb/Mar 1314 and Feb 1315 containing 53 miniatures in a simplified Mongol style. The manuscript belonged formerly to Shah Ismāʻīl
Decorations:
- Miniature: Folio 1v: Sulṭān Sanjar, attended by the poet Mu'izzi and four courtiers of Mongol appearance, viewing the moon over a rocky hill. Damaged and repaired. Dimensions [written]: 9.5x25cm.
- Miniature: Folio 3v: The poet under a looped-up curtain reading his works to an attentive Mongol prince attended by five courtiers. Dimensions [written]: 8.5x17cm.
- Miniature: Folio 5v: Poet, with another Persian behind him, reading from a scroll to a Mongol prince under a looped-up curtain. Four courtiers in attendance. Dimensions [written]: 8.5x17.5cm.
- Miniature: Folio 6v: Same subject and figures as folio 5v. Dimensions [written]: 8.5x18cm.
- Miniature: Folio 8v: Similar subject to folio 5v except that the second Persian appears to be expostulating with one of the courtiers, and another of the latter carries a mace. Dimensions [written]: 8.5x18cm.
- Miniature: Folio 9v: Same subject and figures as folio 3v. The miniature is stepped up for the middle two of its four-column width and this space is occupied by a looped-up curtain. The prince carries a mace. Dimensions [written]: 9.5x17.5cm.
- Miniature: Folio 12v: Very similar to the preceding, except that the prince carries no mace. Dimensions [written]: 11x18cm.
- Miniature: Folio 14v: Poet, attended by three others also in turbans, reading to a turbaned dignitary with two attendants in Mongol caps - looped-up curtain as usual. Dimensions [written]: 19x18cm.
- Miniature: Folio 16v: A poet presenting a poem to a couple of Mongol princes. Behind him two pairs of men, one of whom wears a turban, are in animated discussion. Dimensions [written]: 9.5x18cm.
